The awareness towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is gradually rising. More and more corporate houses worldwide are realizing the need to contribute to the welfare of the society they live and operate in. But whereas in the Western world CSR is already an established concept, in India it is still new.
Most of CSR initiatives have so far been restricted only to the large companies. Whether it is due to inadequate resources or lack of understanding about how one can help, the small and medium sized Businesses (SMBs) have not yet come forward in a significant way.
By creating a role model for others to follow, ILANTUS is trying to dispel the notion that only rich and large organizations have the means to be engaged in such welfare activities.
Studies have shown that not even 1% of SMBs in India currently contribute to any social cause. Even if 50% of those not contributing come forward to help, we can together make a difference to the lives of over a million people.
We want to show: Even with their limited resources, SMBs can make a positive impact!
ILANTUS CSR program
Many different ways exist in which a company can act socially responsible – depending on its size, its structure and the field it operates in.
ILANTUS CSR program is seen as being a useful program to bring benefits both to business and society. It exists of two modules: a well defined Community Development Program as well as an internal CSR Policy. A Cross Functional Team comprising of CEO, headed by Director - Human Resources, and executed by CSR Coordinator, ensures its efficient implementation.
Since its inception, ILANTUS has been actively involved in various social welfare activities. As part of ILANTUS' Community Involvement Program, the decision was made to focus on the area of education for underprivileged children. Since 2005 ILANTUS supports SUKRUPA, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that provides education and nutrition to 200 children currently. ILANTUS helps the NGO to organize fund-raising events and ILANTUS employees are engaged in various activities, such as giving computer classes to the children or sharing their skills and thus, encourage them to follow their dreams.

Furthermore, ILANTUS has designed a Framework of Implementation for a CSR Policy based on the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact. ILANTUS endeavours to set in motion all possible changes to business operations so that the ten principles become part of ILANTUS strategy, culture and day-to-day operations.
