At ILANTUS we are not only passionate about what we do, but also how we do it. Our standards subscribe to the UN Global Compact and we are committed to ensuring economic, environmental and social sustainability in the way we do business. |
| ILANTUS is proud to support the UN’s Global Compact ten principles that define corporate responsibility in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. |
The ten principles are:
Human Rights
World business shall
1. support and respect the protection of international human rights within their sphere of influence; and
2. make sure their own corporations are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour
World business shall uphold
3. freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
4. the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
5. the effective abolition of child labour; and
6. the elimination of all discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
World business shall
7. support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
8. undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
9. encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-corruption
10. World business shall work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.
ILANTUS decided to join the Global Compact, because its 10 principles accord perfectly with our values.
ILANTUS has identified ways of how to set in motion all possible changes to business operations so that the Global Compact and its ten principles will become part of our strategy, culture and day-to-day operations.
A decision was made to focus on the effective abolition of child labour as well as on the support of the protection of international human rights. By supporting SUKRUPA, a local NGO that focuses on the education of underprivileged slum children, ILANTUS and its employees makes sure that these children escape a future of illiteracy and ignorance and get good future prospects as any mainstream child's.
