Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a method of confirming a user’s identity in which access is granted only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence to the system. There are 3 possible kinds of evidence that can be requested by the system: knowledge (something the user and only the user knows eg. Password, security question), possession (something the user and only the user has eg. OTP sent to Mobile or hardware token), and inherence (something the user and only the user is eg. Biometric iris or fingerprint scan).

ILANTUS Compact Identity and Niche Identity offer powerful MFA for both Single Sign-On as well as password management.

A single password to access all your apps improves security by allowing you to a choose a very strong password and prevents slip-ups related to password fatigue (needing to write them down on post its or your mobile phone). Our integrated MFA module allows you to double-up on security by forcing authentication multiple times with different factors.

ILANTUS MFA offers the following options for authentication:

  • Credentials
  • Mobile OTP
  • Email OTP
  • Soft Token
  • Hardware Token Integration
  • Challenge-Response Questions

Biometric (fingerprint), context based authentication (location, time, device) and adaptive authentication options will be added soon.
